Accessibility Information

At Ivory Blacks, we want everyone to enjoy live music and events in a welcoming, inclusive environment. Below is essential accessibility information to help you plan your visit. Please contact us directly if you have any specific questions or needs.

Venue Overview

Ivory Blacks is a 300-capacity live music venue situated in Glasgow City Centre at 56 Oswald Street, Glasgow G1 4PL. We host a range of events including live gigs, club nights, and private events.

Access & Entrances

Main Entrance

  • The venue entrance is located at street level on Oswald Street.
  • Staff are happy to assist with entry or push doors when needed.

Mobility Access

  • We are currently re-assessing wheelchair and step-free access throughout the venue and will add details here shortly.
  • If you require step-free access, seating accommodations, or assistance getting around the venue, please contact us before your visit so we can make arrangements.

Companion tickets & event promoters

Please note that while Ivory Blacks hosts events, many shows are promoted and ticketed by independent external promoters.

For these events:

  • Companion ticket approval and availability remain at the discretion of the event promoter, who manages ticket allocation and sales.
  • Ivory Blacks does not always have access to ticketing systems or sales for externally promoted shows, which means we may be unable to issue or authorise companion tickets directly.

Where this applies, we will always do our best to connect you with the correct promoter or point you in the right direction so arrangements can be made in advance.

For shows promoted directly by Ivory Blacks, companion ticket requests can be handled by us by contacting us directly. Please use this form if you are unsure who is promoting the event.

Inside the Venue

The main performance area is an open floor standing room with possible seating areas (subject to event setup).

Sightlines can vary depending on the show format, stage setup, and crowd size.

If you need a quieter or reserved area during events, please ask staff — we’ll do our best to accommodate.

Facilities

Toilets

  • Venue toilets of urinals and cubicles are available in the main venue space, with our accessible toilet situated in the entrance hallway.

Cloakroom

  • A cloakroom is available for storing coats and bags (subject to event setup and staffing) — we accept both cash and card at £2 per item.

Assistance & Support

  • Staff are trained to help make your visit as comfortable as possible.
  • If you have a carer or personal assistant, please contact us in advance about companion tickets or support arrangements.

Transport & Nearby Routes

Ivory Blacks is located in central Glasgow and can be reached by bus, taxi, and nearby train and subway stations, with a wide range of public transport links serving the city centre.

Please note that the venue sits within Glasgow’s Low Emission Zone (LEZ). In addition, Oswald Street (between Midland Street and Argyle Street) operates a bus gate from 7am–7pm daily, restricting access to buses, taxis, private hire vehicles, and bicycles only during those hours.

If travelling by car from the South Side, the nearby NCP car park is the most convenient option.

For performing artists, rear access via Midland Street can be arranged in advance with our booker.
